ETAP 37s Sailboat 2003
What is an ETAP sailboat exactly?
The company was founded by Norbert Joris in 1970 and was originally a manufacturer of lighting, aluminum and fiberglass products ergo ETAP stands for Electro Technical Apparatus. The designs have been noted for their use of fiberglass foam sandwich construction, which provides buoyancy, making them reliable and safe, while providing rigidity, sound dampening and protection from condensation. Etap 37s model especially has received praise for the high quality of construction and value retention from Sailing Magazine and SAIL magazine.
This ETAP 37s – SELAH- is a 9/10 fractional sloop rig with a raked mast system. SELAH is built predominantly of fiberglass with wood trim. If you have a leak, it doesn’t absorb water like balsa would. Engineering and construction cost a bit more than more conventional techniques, but when you're offshore, it’s comforting to know that nothing short of cannon fire will do you in!
SELAH has a nice PHRF rating of 120-130 and is comfortable and QUIET as a cruising sailboat. She has had 2 owners and always in freshwater.
A raised counter with transom steps and a swim platform makes her perfect for cruising or hanging on the hook. It displaces 13,999 lb. (6,350 kg) and carries 4,409 lb. (2,000 kg) of ballast. All sailing controls are led to the very spacious, ergonomic cockpit so you can double or single hand this boat with or without crew to yell at:) All 4 Lewmar winches in nice condition.
SELAH comfortably accommodates 5 large people, with a double "V"-berth in the bow cabin, two straight settees in the main cabin and an aft cabin with a double berth on the port side. A navigation station is opposite the galley, on the starboard side. Below deck, the panoramic window ensures ample light for the unique interior, which boasts an innovative and extremely functional galley with a centrally located island, double sink and storage unit. Microwave is new and included in sale as is the portable air conditioner. Ample locker space is provided, and the head is located just aft of the navigation station on the starboard side and includes a handheld shower and a large wet locker for foul weather gear.
The boat has a draft of 4.43 ft and she is fitted with a VOLVO engine of 28 hp , a very dependable engine especially when the wind dies. The fuel tank holds 31 gallons and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 66 gallons.
